東京を拠点とするデザイン事務所。家具、店舗什器、アクセサリーを中心に、素材・構造・用途を横断するデザインを展開。素材が持つ特性や魅力に着目し、日本の職人との協働を通して、その本質を引き出すプロダクトを提案。

 

YNDO is a Tokyo based design office working across furniture, retail displays, and accessories. The practice focuses on the inherent qualities and appeal of materials, developing designs that cross the boundaries of material, structure, and function. Through collaboration with Japanese craftspeople, it creates products that bring out the intrinsic qualities of each material.

座るためのフレームでありながら、同時に空間そのものを切り取る。開放的な構造はコンパクトな収納としても機能し、彫刻的な存在感を生み出す。わずかに加えられた垂直の要素が余白を際立たせ、対称性の中に静かな緊張感を与える。構造と空隙の均衡を通して、機能と造形の関係を提示。

 

A frame designed for sitting while simultaneously framing the space itself. Its open structure also functions as compact storage, creating a sculptural presence. A subtle vertical element accentuates the surrounding negative space, introducing a quiet tension within its symmetry. Through the balance of structure and void, it explores the relationship between function and form.

木材、金属、アクリルをはじめとする素材には、それぞれ固有の重さや質感、緊張感、空気感がある。YNDOはそうした素材の特性に着目し、その本来の存在感を損なうことなく、どのようなかたちを生み出せるかを探求している。

 

Wood, metal, acrylic, and other materials each have their own weight, surface, tension, and atmosphere. By paying attention to these qualities, YNDO explores how objects can be shaped without losing the original presence of the material.

 

 

 

 

それぞれのプロジェクトは、観察、試作、調整、検証を重ねるプロセスを通して形づくられる。

家具、店舗什器、アクセサリーといった異なるスケールを横断しながら、素材・構造・空間についての探求を続けている。空間に置かれる家具、店舗に設置される什器、身につける小さなアクセサリー。それぞれのオブジェクトを、周囲の環境に静かに作用する存在として捉えている。

 

The practice moves across furniture, retail display, and accessories, treating each scale as part of the same exploration of material, structure, and space. From a piece of furniture placed in a room, to a display element within a store, to a small detail worn on the body, YNDO approaches each object as something that can quietly affect its surroundings.
